You're Privileged
Have you taken the time to consider just how privileged you are? Well, it’s true, you are. You’re reading this on a laptop or smart phone. You have plans this weekend, when the alternative is not having them. Your life is full of privilege. A working car or public transportation. Access to doctors and Uber eats. The option to have a lazy Saturday, if that is what you wish for.
Yet somehow, you only care about what you don’t have. You only focus on the things you need to get and mainly, what you want to get. What you already have doesn’t matter. You can thank social media. You can thank psychological reasons for this. But let’s look at it like this; f you were stripped of everything you have now and had nothing, you would want exactly what you have today. So while you want a bigger home, a more expensive car or some other materialistic thing, remember that it can be all stripped away. It can be stolen. A fire can destroy it. Or, you could have never had any of it.
If everything you have right now was stripped from you, you would want it all back. You would want exactly what you have today.
So give thanks for what you have. Control your impulses and desire. Express gratitude often for what you have.
There are people who don’t know what Uber eats is.
There are people who cannot afford take out or don’t have that as an option.
There are people without WiFi or a smartphone.
There are people without a car or public transportation. Instead they walk miles per day.
There are people who may die at any moment just because they can’t see a doctor.
There are people that do not earn your salary or hourly pay.
You’re privileged. Stop wanting more. You already have it all.
