Recently, I had a message chat with a reader of this blog. It is great to hear how this blog helps this person and they read it multiple times per day. It helps keep them and their value aligned. I’m an inspiration to them and they even want to start writing! Now that is influence.
I don’t write this blog for that. I write it because I enjoy sharing what I’ve learned with others. Also, I love using my typewriter to create the “carbon copy” of my thoughts. In a way, this blog is a form of journaling.

The key takeaway from that conversation is, “you never know who’s watching.” Or in the case of this blog, “you never know who’s reading.”
THAT. Right there. That is precisely the reason, for the last six months I write and blog everyday. Because it can just be one person who engages with my writing and that is all that matters. It’s not easy to sit and write each day, to then share it with the world. It’s also hard to be a parent, or teacher, a good neighbor, friend or citizen. Where a simple act of kindness goes a long way. Where a blog post can help people. Maybe you aren’t a writer. You could be an artist in another way. How can your art help someone?
You don’t know who is watching you at work, where your character is what pushes you over the edge to get that promotion. It could be that you’re single and your future partner is watching how you talk to and treat other people. “You never know who is watching.”
Reflecting on that doesn’t mean you have to be careful with everything you say and do. Its a way to be more conscious of yourself.
Your children are watching you. And so is your spouse.
What we do, say and think with no one watching or knowing, says a lot about who we are. Remember, “you never know who’s watching.”
Thought Provoking Question 1: In what areas can we take that approach? Where we say to ourselves, “you never know who’s watching?” (comment below)
Thought Provoking Question 2: What would you change if some one or a group of people followed you all day? What if they watched your every move?
