Pick your favorite billionaire, since we all seem to be obsessed with it. Now, think of yourself. It doesn’t matter if you’re Jeff Bezos, Oprah, or Amancio Ortega. We will ALL end up in a grave or as ashes. That’s it. That is the fate that we all face. Money cannot and will not save us from the inevitable death we all face. I like what Ryan Holiday says about death, “we’ve been given a terminal illness at birth, its called death.” From the moment we are born we are dying.

So what does this have to do with you and money?

Build a life; not just wealth.

There are plenty of wealthy people who do not have a relationship with their kids. Plenty of them have failed marriages and do not know how to keep a friendship with others. How can Jeff Bezos and Bill Gates end up divorced? Well, money and large amounts of it does not guarantee shit! They have all the power, money and influence a person can have and yet, they end up divorced.

Build a life; not just wealth.

It’s quite humbling when you think about it. They will end up in the same place as we will. So, build wealth and have that be something you can pass to your children and grandchildren. More importantly, build a life with them. Money will not mean anything if there is no love to be shared, experiences to enjoy and connections to have.
