What's The Point, It's Only A Name
Walking by the new building you see a name you don’t recognize. The new wing of the hospital. The new Level to the library. The new memorial center. All named after someone, perhaps someone you don’t know. They may have purchased that right by donating. They may have been a significant member in the organization. Or, made a difference in some way. Perhaps they attended the university. Or were a patient in the hospital. Maybe they pioneered a movement or change.
Does it matter?
Does the name going up matter or does the work done. The difference made. The lives changed.
Afterall, in thirty years or so, the building may be demolished. Your name may be replaced with someone else’s. If no one knew you existed to begin with, than why would your name matter anyway?
The point here is do the work because it is the right thing to do. Don’t do it for the reward. The recognition. The name going up. It’s meaningless compared to the work you contribute.
Once the last person on earth that knows you passes away, the name on the building means nothing, to no one. But, the lives changed will live forever.

Thought Provoking Questions : What matters most in your work? Do you care about rewards or making a difference?
Daily I write and release a daily meditation. A quick read. Sharing wisdom and asking thought-provoking questions. Influenced by the obstacles, success and failures in my life and of others. Using history, books, current events, philosophy, and ancient wisdom. These writings are actionable, thought-provoking, designed to make your life better.
These writings are not to push a way of thinking on the reader or to force you into a certain philosophy or methodology. Rather to give you practical and real ways to handle life. This is an added tool. My writing is simply a discussion, a discourse, with all the material I read, watch, hear and consume.
