The opinions of others don't matter. And yet, we cannot help ourselves. We take their words as gospel. Their opinion is their own, based on how they feel about themselves and what sways them. And what they fear. The procrastinator take the opinions of others and gives it life. The procrastinator take it to the heart and is moved by them.
The procrastinator in us lets outside influences take center stage.
As a result, we react and say things based on these outside influences. At times we do as they suggest, without intention. Sticks and stones may break bones, but words?
They do not have the power to take you away from you.
The good news is, we are all better than this, even after we've fallen for it. We can get back up and stand for
something. We can declare, right now, that they will not decide what I do. "I decide what I do," The challenge here is our free will is being questioned. Our will power is being tested. What will we allow?
When we listen to their opinions, we give procrastination what it needs to grow. Like embers with enough wind gusts to take down an entire forest of trees. So, block them out. Focus at the task at hand or the life you want or
what you find important. There will always be detractors. It comes with dreaming big or wanting to succeed at anything. The people with opinions are marketers for Procrastination INC., they work for that evil organization.
They just rather talk about what we do, when we're too damn busy getting shit done. Fuck em.
