We're far too selective. Too many of us put more thought, effort and time into selective parts of our lives. I guess that could be better than putting in zero effort in anything. What stands out is our work, maybe our bodies and our social media presence. These are given our time and focus. Our attention and commitment. We plan and strategize. We make the vision boards, create the affirmations, have a strong why and give it all we have.
While there is nothing wrong with this, there are other parts of our lives that could use some effort. What tends to fall on the back of our minds is our home life, our partners or even children. Our finances. These too require our time, energy, commitment and planning.
To expect what is important to us to simply work out without our intervention is naive. We must be intentional. Imagine a company only focused on a couple aspects of their business and ignoring the rest. They would fail. Look at yourself and life as a business. Not having focus or not being intentional is costly, wasteful and chaotic.
Success in any arena needs us, committed to it fully. It means no shortcuts. It could mean: sitting in therapy alone or with your partner, or having a meal plan, or a budget or creating ways to spend time with your partner or children.
You must want to do it and see that as its own benefit. To a life that feels full and enriching.
