You’re stuck. Nothing’s going right. Your resolutions have already hit the floor. There are things you want to do, so many things, but just don’t know where to begin.
The answer, just start somewhere, with something and you’ll feel better. Something you actually enjoy or experiment with. Could be a self-care routine or product, it cold be trying a new cooking recipe.
Let’s say you want to read a book. Before you can finish a book you have to start with the first line on the first page. Just do that. Set a timer and read for 3 minutes. If you enjoy it keep going.
You want to lose weight. Don’t focus on gym memberships, or new exercise clothes. Just go for a walk. Time it. Walk for 5 minutes and if you hate it stop. Better yet, just go outside and stand there. Looking around and taking in some sun. Plenty of studies highlight the importance of getting sunlight.
If you want to finally put paint to canvas, just go buy some supplies.
If you already have them, set a timer and paint anything for 5 minutes.
The timer idea is called the Pomodoro Method. This method is typically set up for 25-minute chunks. Start small. But the idea is just starting. Don’t do 5 things at once, just start with one. The one that you are most curious about or excited for. The rest will follow with time.
