A tweet or 30-second video that gets uploaded can make someone "famous" by the viral culture. Making it to that kind of "social media famous" one can take several approaches. Humor. Hitting the algorithm just right. An act of kindness. A recipe that you created or some work of art that's admired.
In that camp are the extreme views one has - on society, culture, people and politics. If you look at the individuals getting endorsement or book deals because of their hot takes, it is quite gross.
As some of us may have watched bits of the senate confirmation hearings, what stands out to me is when someone refuses to confirm a statement they said or wrote, instead deciding to deflect or redirect the question. The current administration here in the U.S.A is full of bullshit. But it got me to wonder, if the ideas they say and share are wild, what are the ideas and views that they don't share? The ones we have no knowledge of. If we think what they openly say is wild, surely it gets worse.
Everyone has an opinion and the webs endorse us to do so. With likes, views and shares. The freedom of speech banner that hangs each time someone posts something wild, offensive, etc. Yes, you have the freedom to speak, but not to be an idiot. Or a racist or a tyrant.
I don't quite know what I am trying to say here. Just that as a whole, the world is focused on the wrong mediums. Their views can be theirs. What are yours? Are you living by your standards? Are you living in fear of what they think, say and do? Or are you living by what you say, do and think? What are your views that you aren't willing to share?
