The Surprise
The surprise is an interesting tool. When you want your toddler to do something you dangle a surprise in front of them as you would dangle a carrot in front of a horse.
The same happens to you when your manager dangles a promotion in front of you. A pay raise or bonus. All of that is ingrained in us since we were toddlers. Or how you dangle having kids or marriage in front of your partner.
The surprise is powerful. Instead of being manipulated by the surprise or using it to string along a partner, what if you used it to your benefit?
This can be a cheat meal after you lost your first 10 pounds. Purchasing yourself something you’ve been wanting after you invest/save your first $1,000. Or a trip to the movie theaters after you write the first 3 chapters to your book. The surprise can be anything you want, just make it a healthy one. The point, if we are moved towards a set of behaviors because a surprise is looming, then use that to your advantage. Surprise yourself for the work you’re doing.

Thought Provoking Questions : How can you stop being manipulated by the surprise? How can you stop manipulating others by using it? What can you do to implement a surprise for yourself based on the work in front of you?
Daily I write and release a daily meditation. A quick read. Sharing wisdom and asking thought-provoking questions. Influenced by the obstacles, success and failures in my life and of others. Using history, books, current events, philosophy, and ancient wisdom. These writings are actionable, thought-provoking, designed to make your life better.
These writings are not to push a way of thinking on the reader or to force you into a certain philosophy or methodology. Rather to give you practical and real ways to handle life. This is an added tool. My writing is simply a discussion, a discourse, with all the material I read, watch, hear and consume.
