Speechless is the word. Recently, I asked three individuals if they would write letters of recommendation on my behalf. Without hesitation or pause, it was an overwhelming “yes.”
As I read them I was reminded of ways I showed up for them. Of my own generosity. How they see me as a man, friend, colleague or person. Even if I don't see these qualities in myself. Something I'm working on of course.
I was touched in the description of me and what I stand for. I was emotional. These letters serve as a reminder that goodness will always live in the lives of those who witness it. Being good or doing the right thing, without conditions. I'm grateful for their contribution to my life and these letters. Moreover, that I had a hand, even if small, in impacting their life.
This is the best eulogy one can witness without having to directly ask about it or without someone dying. To live uncommonly and impact the lives of others is a mission I shared with you all on Sunday, March 30th. The words written and sent to me by these three souls showcase exactly that. What this means is I have yet more work to do to be good, kind, generous and more lives to impact while I am here. Leaving this place better than when I came into it. We're all running out of time.
