Trying to block out noise and distractions is an age old problem. Existing as far back as there have been humans on this planet. Some extreme measures have been taken to stay focused, keep your head down and to avoid the things that stand in the way of doing the work.
Well back in 1925 Hugo Gernsback created The Isolator. A wooden helmet with sockets in the eyes and a small valve to allow for oxygen to enter. He, like many in his time and like so many today had a hard time focusing. The goal, to keep out sounds and to avoid distractions. It worked some of the time. And in 1925, we did not have social media.
While Gernsback took steps to address his chief problem, here you are not trying to address the distractions in front of you. Instead you welcome and enable them. You may be creating the very environment that is dragging you down. So take the approach that Gernsback did. Isolate yourself from the distractions and the noise. You know what grabs your attention most, start there. Limit your phone usage. Have set hours where you do your work or projects. Do the hard things first to avoid Resistance and to remain focused on what matters most.
Maybe you don’t need a wooden helmet. Or, that could be the very thing you need, right now.

Thought Provoking Questions : What are the biggest distractions in your way now? What can you do to eliminate just one?
Daily I write and release a thought. A quick read. Sharing wisdom and asking thought-provoking questions. Influenced by the obstacles, success and failures in my life and of others. Using history, books, current events, and everyday life as inspiration. These writings are actionable, thought-provoking, designed to make your life better.
These writings are not to push a way of thinking on you or to force you into a certain way of thinking, or living. Rather to give you practical and real ways to handle life. This is an added tool. My writing is simply a conversation with all the material I consume.
