The DIP...And Riding It
The legend Seth Godin wrote a book called The Dip. What is the dip? Is the low point. When things are not going well. It could be in work. In your artistic and creative pursuits. You’ll experience The Dip in weight loss. In a financial goal. In relationships and marriage. It’s annoying, frustrating and at times, agonizing to be in The Dip. People will simply just quit on the way down. Most people will quit at the lowest point.
If you want to quit, that is a choice. However, what if you rode The Dip? You were once at a high point and it slowly came down. Or perhaps, the fall happened quickly. Like most things we pursue there will be high and low points. However, none of these simply stay as it is, there is no status quo. What you can depend on is that change will happen.
How do you know when it’s time to quit or stick it out? Too often, even here on this blog, we hear to simply “keep going.” Or, “don’t quit.”
Sound advice. The purpose is to remind you that it will be hard. Easy is not certain. Success is not guaranteed. The only certainty is to ride The Dip. In doing so you will recover. Learn more about yourself. Learn what works and what doesn’t work. Gain much needed experience so that you know what’s next. In The Dip you will find how to get out. Only if you ride it.
Thought Provoking Questions : What can you learn from The Dip? How can you use The Dip to your advantage?
Daily I write and release a daily meditation. A quick read. Sharing wisdom and asking thought-provoking questions. Influenced by the obstacles, success and failures in my life and of others. Using history, books, current events, philosophy, and ancient wisdom. These writings are actionable, thought-provoking, designed to make your life better.
These writings are not to push a way of thinking on the reader or to force you into a certain philosophy or methodology. Rather to give you practical and real ways to handle life. This is an added tool. My writing is simply a discussion, a discourse, with all the material I read, watch, hear and consume.
