You have plans. You know what today will be like and you've planned your weekend. Then, a call disrupts all of that. One call and it all changes.
Please remember with urgency, between stimulus and response, there is space. This advice thanks to Viktor Frankl. So when you do get a call that usually are not pleasant ones, take a pause. Sit. Breathe. Use the space between stimulus and your response to do something better than simply react. With a pause we can factor in more and come up with a well thought first step.
If nothing else the pause can help us calm down and regain ourselves. The pause can help take us away from anxiety or negative thoughts.
