The cliche statement is it takes 21 days to build or break a habit. As someone that has done many 21 day cycles, this is bull shit. James Clear says it doesn’t matter if it’s 21 days or 30. What does matter is the rate at which you do the behavior that will set the habit in place. Its the repetitions that make the difference. It may very well take 21 days. But are you prepared and ok if it takes 51 days? Or what about six months? The habits we have now have been here after hundreds, maybe even thousands of repetitions. So don’t expect everything to change in 21 days.
If a star professional athlete is up early to get their reps in, what’s your excuse? How do you think they became so good? Repetitions.
