Take Pride In Your Work
David McCullough was interviewed by one of his 19 grandchildren in a podcast in February 2020. We talked about it in yesterday’s blog post. David died at the age of 89 and still sitting in front of his Royal KMM typewriter, writing his next book. Now, his unpublished work may never be seen again. But what will be seen is his dedication to the craft. To the work. And the pride he took in it. In that podcast episode he sat down for in 2020 he says, “I really feel like I’ve been doing something for my country my whole working life. And will continue to do so as long as I can. Because I love it. I don’t do much in playing golf…or flying off to some enchanted island. I get my kick from coming to work everyday. I’d much rather do that than anything else.”
That is a man dedicated to his work. The work he is proud to create and share.
Now, you may not be a writer or historian as David is. Yet, you have work of your own. Work to be proud of. You’re a parent. A truck driver. You work in customer service or serve tables at a restaurant. Take pride in that work. Afterall, you make a living doing it and you get to serve others in some way. We may not have the honor to impact the world as David has, yet we have our own world we can impact. Families to influence. Friends to inspire. Someone is always watching.

Thought Provoking Questions : What work are you proud of? Why? Feel stuck? Than how can you adjust your mindset or approach so that you can be proud?
Daily I write and release a daily thought. A quick read. Sharing wisdom and asking thought-provoking questions. Influenced by the obstacles, success and failures in my life and of others. Using history, books, current events, and the work of other authors I follow as inspiration. These writings are actionable, thought-provoking, designed to make your life better.
These writings are not to push a way of thinking on you or to force you into a certain way of thinking, or living. Rather to give you practical and real ways to handle life. This is an added tool. My writing is simply a discussion, a discourse, with all the material I consume.
