You cannot succeed at something you don’t try. Ryan Holiday has said you can’t publish a book you don’t write.
You cannot do anything without trying to do it. Playing the piano, baking, learning to cook or speaking a foreign language.
Success at anything is determined by you and how you measure it. In addition, it comes from showing up to the plate and taking swings at it.
Baseball is a perfect example of what greatness looks like. A player is considered great and even makes it into the hall of fame when he succeeds 3 out of 10 times. In baseball there is a stat measured called a batting average.
What is your batting average in life? If you’re paying down debt, how many attempts have you made? This example can apply if you’re starting a business, working on your marriage or trying to land a job. How many applications and connections have you made? How many therapy sessions have you successfully attended? How many credit cards have you paid off?
Have your bat in had, keep your eye on the ball and take your swings. Success does not have to be a perfect 10 out of 10. It literally is just 3 out of 10. So focus on the 3 things that make the biggest impact in your life and goals. Focus on those 3 habits that can change the game, permanently. Instead of trying to do 10 different pretty good things, focus on 3 things, intently. Results will soon follow.
