Stop Being Arrogant
You may not even realize it. We all procrastinate at something. We all say, not now, later. You’ll start tomorrow. You’ll start on Monday. You’ll start on New Year’s Day. You’re too tired. You’re too busy to play with your kids.
Or the best one over the last 3 years is after COVID….when things get back to normal.
Not only is that ridiculous–it’s arrogant. Textbook arrogance. You’re exaggerating your abilities, to think that later will happen. That you will start this tomorrow. On Monday. On January 1. However, you would be what’s known as wrong. The data proves it. Science supports it. The longer you wait to get started you will not get started. The worse the delay gets and the more you feel unfulfilled and unsatisfied with life.
Procrastination is something we all face. What doesn’t help however is the continuous delay because of your arrogance. Now, there will be times that you will have more energy. Where it would be better suited to start. However, to delay as a way of life, is not the way.
So what is the remedy? Stop putting it off, stop being arrogant. Start now. Do not delay. Do not wait until the weather is perfect. Until the time is right. The time is now. Someday or one day is not a day of the week. Now is now. And now is lost when you put things off. Time as you know flies and you’re allowing it by your own inaction.
In a practical approach start by doing the small things as soon as you think of it or as soon as you can. Take out the trash, now. Organize your desk, now. Wash laundry, now. Start that journaling, now. Don’t wait to call your parent, call them now. Don’t wait until Monday to start the diet, start making better choices with what you eat now. Put the soda down, now. Don’t wait to stop smoking. Don’t wait to be more patient. Start it….now.
Fighting procrastination and the very arrogance you carry takes time, practice and it requires you to work out the now muscle.
