We eacn have what makes us unique and, what makes us
similar. The landscape around us is designed to be measured and to make our similarites appear different. As a whole, we all have more in common than what separates us. However, politics, race, gender, social-economic class creates a division. One that we allow ourselves to fall into or be held prisoner by.
We are all here for each other. We are all just part of the whole. We share in the success and failure of others. We are social beings. We are human beings not human doings - meaning it does not matter what boxes we place ourselves in or allow ourselves to be in. Collectively, we are here to serve each other, be with each other and embrace our roles within that.
This why accountability is important. Not just yourself but someone else. Since we're here to serve each other, holding someone accountable - be it a friend or a politician, is helping
them. Those moments remind us our role in the whole and help keep ourselves in check from being corrupted, from doing harm or from making a potentially grave mistake. It is quite beautiful
How experiences can bring us together - reminding us all that we truly are here for one another.
A natural disaster. Divorce. A cross-fit gym. Children/parenting. A cause we believe in. Passing the BAR exam. The death of a loved one. In the countless experiences we face, it is when we can see, from a mile away, when someone else is going through one.
We aren't sages by any means. The human experiences teaches us that even in these experiences we think are unique, are common in the art of living.Â
"You think your pain and your heartbreak are unprecedented in the history of the world, but then you read. It was books that taught me that the things that tormented me most were the very things that connected me with all the people who were alive, or who had ever been alive."-James Baldwin
We transcend these heartbreaks and sufferings we've been through, when we can share the lessons with others and when we can see and feel the plights of others. Compassion. It's special.
You've been through it before? Well, help someone going through it now. Don't keep or hide how you managed to get by. Be a guide for someone - a resource. Hold yourself accountable to someone else and yourself in your service to others.
Don't procrastinate on this crucial role, in the whole of the world.
