There is more that we have in common than what separates us. We all want to live well and healthy.
We have financial needs. Selfishly, we also have wants. We want safe schools, controlled borders, affordable healthcare, access to capital and other resources, and opportunities.
Since there is more that links us together than what splits us, we draw close to the mob' . That can be people for or against something. A group of walkers or runners in your community. People who give their time and money to this cause or that one.
The "mob,' the crowd, validates us. Our existence. The reason to be here. It gives many of us a place of belonging. This why gangs have historically grown - they give the young a place to belong, a family. The mob or mafia, has done the same. Any other community provides the same life line that we all need but don't really know we want - community, a place to belong•
There are drawbacks to this mentality also and we see it with our political climate. And, the same can be said about illegal acts by groups determined to do so.
Where do you stand? And why? Stand for nothing and fall for anything. Right?
You might be saying to yourself that your acts are not illegal. But are they right? Are they just? Are they moral? To say that your actions aren't as bad as someone else's, is an excuse. To reason with doing so by saying, everyone else is," does not mean it is ok.
Since we have more in common at our core, surely we can do good. For ourselves (since we're inheritantly selfish) and then for those around us. We can decide to contribute, positively, to the mob. Go ahead, cast your vote, just don't be a piece of shit because of it.
Whatever group you think you're part of, you're still part of this bigger one - the world, or, the world you live in each day. Don't let them decide who to be.
