Resistance Knows Best
You self sabotage. Oftentimes, before you even get started. Why do you ask? Resistance. This is exactly the purpose and theme of Steven Pressfield’s book, The War of Art. Resistance responds accordingly, Pressfield writes.
The more important the task, project or work in front of you, the greater the resistance. Think about it. You want to lose weight. Eat healthier. Hit some financial goal. Work on your relationship. Get therapy. Go to rehab. Finishing the degree.
Pressfield writes, “good idea = big resistance. Great idea = humongous resistance.”
Our growth or advancement is never linear. It does not happen in a straight line. It looks more like:
The way you get there is riding the dip, as I wrote recently. By taking actions, step by step to get where you want to be. Resistance can kill something before you get started. But, since you know it is resistance, that means you can overcome it. Because resistance is familiar. It’s that voice that tells you, you’re too tired. You’ll start tomorrow or monday. You’ve had a long day, and on and on.
The greater the resistance the more certain it is that what you face must be done. The greater the resistance, then that is exactly the direction you should go in. As referenced before in other blog posts here, “what stand in the path is the path. What stands in the way becomes the way. The obstacle is the way.”

Thought Provoking Questions : What is giving you the most resistance now? Where do you feel resistance as a force of nature? (Your answer will determine the direction you should most likely go in).
Daily I write and release a daily meditation. A quick read. Sharing wisdom and asking thought-provoking questions. Influenced by the obstacles, success and failures in my life and of others. Using history, books, current events, philosophy, and ancient wisdom. These writings are actionable, thought-provoking, designed to make your life better.
These writings are not to push a way of thinking on the reader or to force you into a certain philosophy or methodology. Rather to give you practical and real ways to handle life. This is an added tool. My writing is simply a discussion, a discourse, with all the material I read, watch, hear and consume.
