Yes, its nostalgic. No, its not the good ol days. Sure it brings back memories and if you actually wanted to, you would, instead of saying "I wish I..."
When I type in public spaces I'm very often interrupted by how "cool" my machine is. Or how the sound brings them back. What does one say? "Thanks?"
Here's a rule, don’t interrupt a fellow typer, we are in deep thought. We are writing. Either for ourselves or others.
I love typewriters. I use them because I write better and the cloud ate my work. Fuck you cloud! Not because I want stares at a park bench or coffee shop. Admire the machine. Leave a comment with the barista.
Maybe I'll have a box with a sign that reads: "I'm busy thinking and writing. Leave your comment on this index card and leave in the box. Now, go away."
Any thoughts?
I just did my first typing in public and no one said anything. One of my friends did type a bit, turning the lazy dog line into a story. I'd like to do more of that.
