We did everything we could. Woke up early for it. Went to bed late for it. We worked hard. Kept showing up. We were patient. We had our expectations and let's face it, our fair share of frustrations. We visualized and we tasted it. And then, it happened. We won. We made it. We got where we wanted.
Now how does it feel?
As if nothing happened? All of a sudden the goal post moves. Our goal, our number, just gets bigger. It just moves further that way?All we've worked for just doesn't feel like much.
Likely, the problem with wanting outcomes to happen. Once they do arrive, it feels flat. We're unsatisfied. Underwhelmed. The best way to avoid these feelings is to focus on what we do and why. Not what happens after we do them. Keeping up with our efforts. Being consistent. Our gaze on the process.
We must overcome the desire to have desires. And the expectations created from them. The lust. The temptation. All we have is now, the work we do. The choices we make. As we've said before, results we do not control so they just don't matter. Obviously, we'd chose to hit our mark. However, wanting something and actually working for it are different.
I believe we should only focus and work for things that cannot be taken away from us. Those intrinsic muscles and qualities that we build, over time, by showing up every day. Doing our best. And continue on that pattern. The rest will simply just take care of itself. We must all have faith in that but more importantly, in ourselves. That is the real win.
