Redefining Wealth On Your Terms
Epictetus, a stoic philosopher said that “Wealth consists not in having great possessions, but in having few wants.”
In a follow up to yesterday’s blog, I found this quote recently and I’m glad I remembered it. How can wealth be measured by having less? A unicorn view on wealth, especially by today’s standards. This is a profound statement by Epictetus.
By having less desires you’re expressing fulfillment, gratitude and contentment for what you do have. That starts internally and expands to the external, where others around you can see and feel it.
Wealth is not about having “stuff.” If it were a lot of us would already be wealthy. The idea of wealth is different for each of us. More “stuff” will never be the answer.
