Molly’s Game to Molly’s Lessons

Most people want the easy way out. The fast way. The short cut. The path of least resistance and effort. Yet, they also want a private jet, a super yacht and a lavish lifestyle seen and experienced by few. Not realizing that to get those things it requires a great deal of fucking work! A lot of it. How else does a private jet show up?
Not by wishing it into existence. Not by what the book The Secret tells us. It’s easier to live a life without the pursuit of being a billionaire. To live a normal life, which does not include private jets, is actually easier. So why not aim for that? Since you will most likely take the path of least resistance anyway?
As Molly Bloom explained on “The Daily Stoic,” a podcast created and hosted by Ryan Holiday, “ I’ve been on private jets and super yachts and after doing it for a while, it’s quite boring.”
Molly wrote a book called Molly’s Game which later became a movie. Molly setup private poker games with the rich and famous. It is her remarks on this podcast that motivated this blog today. In addition to yachts being boring after a while, Molly also hinted at the level of stress by many rich people. The constant choices they need to make and some even looking over the shoulder as if someone was out to get them or take it all away. Once you get there it consumes you to stay on top. “It’s easier to achieve a simple life versus one with yachts.”
Molly lived that life. She tells us it’s not what it’s cracked up to be. So live a simple life. It requires less effort and you’ll be happier.
