Ryan holiday in Discipline is Destiny says, “it’s a beautiful irony: You’re never content with your progress and yet, you’re always content…because you’re making progress.” This chapter is based on always seeking opportunities to get better. This is Tom Brady or Lebron James. Not obsessed with winning, they’re obsessed with getting better. Eventually as you do something each day that makes you better, you get better. As a person, a pro, a spouse/partner and parent. Imagine what doing better each day can mean for the rest of your life? Just like compound interest grows your money, compound behavior grows your life.
Focus on working towards what you want. A goal is where you want to end up. The work you do gets you there. Instead of having or naming a goal, just get better. Each day. Make progress each day. That will get you where you want to be faster. Instead of being the Dad that everyone is jealous of — just be better today than yesterday — while no one is watching. Don’t concern yourself with being an amazing husband, just be better today. Never mind a $1 Million net worth, just focus on investing each week from now on.
