We're basically hypocrites.
It's become easy and the new social norm to have opinions, while when turned towards us, we fall short or embarrass ourselves.
You have an opinion of that political figure lying, yet you lie.
You have an opinion of someones marriage and yet your marriage is a mess.
You have an opinion on how the athlete should perform and you've already stopped going to the gym, even though it was a resolution for the year.
You think it isn't a big deal when an athlete or entertainer lost their home in a California fire. But what if you lost yours?
You scream loyalty of an athlete towards a team, yet you're unfaithful to your spouse, friends or yourself. Aren't you entertaining job interviews?
The only place to place your opinions is on you. Your life. And to allow these opinions to guide how you go through it. If you want things to change, don't wait for someone else. Do it yourself.
Lately, I've used the phrase 'it matters what happens in your house than who lives in the White House.' I came across another one from Lycurgus, a lawmaker of sorts in ancient Sparta, "make your own household a democracy.”
