Life’s Banquet
The stoic philosopher Epictetus said “Remember to conduct yourself in life as if at a banquet.”

Meaning, don’t be greedy when the server comes close with the platter. Take your serving and let go. Enjoy your time in life as you do at the banquet, but in moderation. Don’t be focused on how much you can have, how much you can eat or take. Less will be just fine and at points in life, less can be more. Don’t get your hopes up at another platter coming your way, simply be patient. Enjoy the people you are with, the conversation, the environment and the fact that you can experience this because you have life. Carry yourself with honor, respect and dignity. Also, treat others to that same respect.
We are all consumed with how much we can have of something. Being slaves to the very thing we are after, often material. Independence and freedom of any kind starts with your intentions. What you want. The more we want the less free and independent we are.
