With a week under our belts in 2025, take a look back at 2024. We can even zoom out more and take the 2020's. Each of us went through a lot. I mean if we factor in COVID alone, these last 4-5 years have been, a lot. Some might say heavy. Others might say tragic. However you would describe it, join me in the following:
"convince yourself that everything is the gift of the Gods, that things are good and always will be." This was written in the journal of Marcus Aurelius, Emperor of Rome.
The point is not to believe in God or a God. But to believe in yourself. Because things will turn out to be good. It is darkest right before light. Time, inevitably heals and reveals.
So whatever you've gone through, the mistakes made, the things you regret doing or not doing, is all a gift. Celebrate living and being human. We fuck up, a lot. And, fucked up things happen to us, without our provocation. But it is in how we respond to these things, to this life, that matters.
Allow me to give you the review of my own 2024 or 2020's. Broadly speaking, someone who is troublesome showed me how to interact with them and create more filters in life - boundaries. Pain in my body or heart, allowed me to slow down. My mistakes, gifted me caution and added experience.
You might refer to things not just happening but happening for a reason. Well, that reason is to teach us so that when we face the next thing, we're better armed with our defences. Also our resilience and gritty determination to see the tough time through.
Even if we are to blame for where we are - there is still a lesson there of what NOT to do. So pay attention to the lecture life is presenting. There is so much to learn and so little time.
