The signs are all there - but are we aware of them? A book titled 'The Body Keeps the Score' shows and tells us how our bodies holds an account of all the traumas we've faced.
So, I started to think that it isn't just trauma. Our bodies keep the score on our choices - day to day or over time. My physical health won't be at its best if I ate a bag of Lays Classics each night - despite my love for the chip. But these are obvious and rather easy examples to drum up.
Some chips here or there is not the problem. What is, is how we feel over time. If we feel not good physically - tired, cranky, slow, fatigued - it might be due to eating poorly. Not sleeping enough or burn out from work. But we ignore such signs and keep going. Or some of us ignore those signs too early. Others take these signs to simply not do anything productive or meaningful.
When we feel distracted, anxious - likely this is because of our information diet. Too much social media. Too much news. Chasing the headlines. The minute-to-minute news updates that get pushed to your devices. The news and social media is the modern day buffet. Its all you can consume. The quality is poor and often lacking nutritional benefits. Hey, at least you pay to get in. With the news or social media, we're the ones being sold and our payment is our attention.
Paying attention to yourself is key. Addressing what you observe is even more important. There is so much data our bodies share with us daily. Take note of it.
