At Anything
Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “that which we persist in doing becomes easier to do, not that the nature of the thing has changed but that our power to do has increased.”
Simply stated when we do something, for a while, it gets easier. In doing the repetitions at a high frequency, the thing becomes easier. Because we get better with practice. The thing has stayed the same.
Basketball, golf, drawing, music, cooking, yoga, you name it. The activity has not changed. What has is you can shoot the ball better, your golf swing is getting better, your drawing more clearly, the time spent on the instrument is proving to work, your recipes are tasting better and your body is more flexible to handle the yoga practice.
So do not get down about how you’re not good at something. Give it time and you’ll see how easier it gets over time.
