There are some things money can't buy. There are things that are irreplaceable. People we cannot bring back. Moments that cannot be relived, once lived. Time, we can't get back or make more of it, like we can with money.
Recently, we talked about generational impact being more meaningful than generational wealth. But does one need money to be wealthy?
Let's be clear - there are people who suffer from poverty and need money and other resources. Money after all is a tool and provides many of the needs that sustain us and help us survive. However, having lots of money or wealth doesn't exempt us from problems. As the great BIGGIE said, “more money more problems.” Or as I once heard, "rich people have rich people problems."
Wealth doesn't wipe anything away, it does however make financial decisions less inconvenient. A blown tire, furnace or medical bill likely is not a concern.
I believe one does not need money to be wealthy. It isn't cliche to say that we can find ourselves wealthy in how we live and who we have.
There are aspects in our lives that can remind us just how wealthy we are - here are mine:
good health
good nights rest
watching the sun rise/set
bird watching
hobbies
reading
playing with kids
going on wondering walks
a random nap during the day
freedom of choice/expression
good coffee
morning glory muffins
pizza
cooking, from & scratch my favorite meal or replicating a restaurant favorite at home
good conversation
life long friendship
a growing and loving marriage
What about you? Have you taken inventory of what/who you have? If not, do so this weekend. Report back what you uncover and how you feel.
