Wanting More Can Be Corrupting
Morgan Housel, author of “The Psychology of Money,” has a story where he talks about Bernie Madoff. In the 1980’s Bernie was one of the most successful and richest people in business. Over $30 million per year. Somehow that was not enough.
He wanted more. So much in fact, that his desire for more created the largest fraud in history. Bernie has since passed away due to kidney failure while serving a 150 year prison sentence.
Do you think Bernie thought it was worth it? Do you? Greed can take us to mysterious places. The need for more can be damaging. At which point do we look at what we have and say, “this is enough.”
