At any moment, we could start over. By choice or lack of options. Maybe, we just are forced to. A new job in a completely different industry. Taking a gap semester and changing your major. Divorce or break up.
Life is full of constant transitions, even when were older. I bumped into a friend yesterday and she was sharing a major transition she's in now. While it did not appear favorable, it reminded me that many among us don't have it figured out. And that's ok.
Some times we play the hand we're given. Other times we fold the hand, but we will never quit the game. This poker reference has helped me many times and I shared this perspective with my friend, she appeared encouraged. In life as in poker, there are inherent risks. Not quitting the game in the only option. As new cards get dealt, as the game carries on, new opportunities will come up for a win. For momentum.
The story of my friend reminded me and I hope all of us, transitions are good. While some may be painful or expensive or uncomfortable, they are well worth sticking around for. We are shaped and strengthened by them. And, better prepared for the next one.
