You just got married, back from the honeymoon. The promotion you were gunning for, you just got the news, its yours. Congratulations. Maybe you were just hired for a new, prestigious role or firm. Many are soon facing graduation. Every year athletes in high school are up against scholarships or being drafted to turn pro.
Guess what...
In all these cases and more, these are just pit stops. The race must go on. These points that so many reach each year. You know what else? The work starts all over again. To be a good, loving and honest spouse. To do the job you were hired for and some other duties you weren’t. Now, after the rigorous degree, you have to find a job, as employers don't just come knocking on your door. The scholarship secured now has strings attached. Where you were drafted by the pro sports team means nothing. We’ve seen greatness happen from 1st overall picks and some who were undrafted. We've also seen complete busts in the same regard.
The work must be done. In many ways all over again. Like the Tibetan Monks with their creations of the sand mandalas. Hours upon hours, days, are dedicated to this craft. Just for them to finish, and wipe it away. I love the metaphor there. We still have to do the work. We can pass the exam, have the party, celebrate a big moment in life... the work still has to be done. We still are required to report on time, to life and be ready to work. In all facets, not just work. Also in life.
