Go a Litter Further Into The Water
The legendary David Bowie, singer and songwriter on how to make or create your best work possible:
“If you feel safe in the area that you’re working in, your’re not working in the right area. Always go a little further into the water than you feel you’re capable of being in. Go a little bit out of your depth, and when you don’t feel that your feet are quite touching the bottom, you’re just about in the right place to do something exciting.”
That’s a beautiful encapsulation of how to produce your best work. It doesn’t mean you have to make or create something. The work can be as an accountant or teacher. The work can be as a parent or spouse. The work can be with yourself, the internal work.
When it’s scary that is when you have something magical happening. Where you discover who you are and what you’re made of. Each new depth, exposes you to a different version of yourself. Within each scary step, is a new you. Building up muscle. Mental toughness and resilience.
The water may be cold and dark. Keep going. Push yourself. The deeper you go, the better you will become.

Thought Provoking Questions : Can you go deeper into the water? Can you go deeper in what you’re doing now to produce great work?
Daily I write and release a daily meditation. A quick read. Sharing wisdom and asking thought-provoking questions. Influenced by the obstacles, success and failures in my life and of others. Using history, books, current events, philosophy, and ancient wisdom. These writings are actionable, thought-provoking, designed to make your life better.
These writings are not to push a way of thinking on the reader or to force you into a certain philosophy or methodology. Rather to give you practical and real ways to handle life. This is an added tool. My writing is simply a discussion, a discourse, with all the material I read, watch, hear and consume.
