Give Yourself An Order
You are in control of your life. You are the Commander and Chief. President Eisenhower smoked for some 40 years. Smoking two plus packs per day. He has a heart attack one day and Eisenhower gives himself an order. With his health at risk and his life on the line he simply stops smoking. Cold turkey. From that day forward he never smoked again. Often with his pockets stuffed with cigarettes, Eisenhower said the best and only way to stop, is to just stop.
So what are you waiting for? Give yourself an order. You too are the Command and Chief of your life.
Stop biting your nails.
Stop sleeping in.
Stop simply letting time waste.
Stop eating junk food.
Stop drinking.
Stop ignoring your spouse.
Stop using the phone in the presence of your children. Make eye contact with them.
Stop gathering yet more information.
Stop planning.
Stop saying one day.
Stop wanting to read and just open the book, and read.
Stop saying yes.
Give yourself an order just as Eisenhower did. Stop being controlled by your belly or your crotch. Control happens when you use it. When you decide to exercise it. When you decide that you are in fact in control of your life and the decisions in it. You’re in the drivers seat. You’re in the cockpit. You’re at the helm.
It may not be something you need to stop. It could be something you need to start.
Start writing.
Start reading.
Start exercising.
Start using your time wisely.
Start being a better spouse.
Start being a more present parent.
Start eating cleaner and healthier.
Start drinking more water.
Start sleeping more.
Start yoga.
Start meditating.
Start that class.
Start the business.
Start conversation with the person you like.
Start saving for the down payment of a home.
Start saying no, more or yes, less.
Give yourself an order.
