Yesterday, kids and adults had fun for Halloween. Getting dressed up and receiving candy or giving it away. Today, in
Mexico and Mexican heritage, is The Day of The Dead ;
Dia de los Muertos. A time where people get together to honor and celebrate the life of someone they lost.
We in America or other parts of the globe may think that this is a strange celebration. Just as Halloween might be also.
What is acknowledged in Mexico isn't just the loved one that had died, also, its about accepting that death comes to us all.
Rather than ignore the reality that awaits us all, it is celebrated. It is quite the beautiful display of grieving a loved one. Instead of only connecting with them in our dreams, or, not connecting with them at all. Being on good terms with death. And, as a result, living life differently because one knows what awaits. There are tuning forks in life that alter our direction; a child being born, someone getting married and death.
