Do This Instead For Better Results
Planning sucks. One year, five year, ten year plans. Why? Well, we are always changing. We never step in the same river twice, as Marcus Aurelius wrote in his personal journal, Meditations. Meaning, the river is always changing and so are we. In life and in self.
Having a long term plan with a deadline or check point may not be helpful. Instead, create your idea and get to work on it. Along the way your plans will change, as will your approach. What you thought you wanted turns out not to be true. This is the reason why students enter college with one major and then change. Or they simply drop out of college because they found what they love to do. Each year we are a different version of ourselves and hopefully better. If not than that is the pursuit. The work ahead, to be better.
The takeaway; don’t have a 3,5, or 10 year plan. Simply work each day, week, month and year to be who you want to become. It may happen sooner than you think or it may take longer. But if you truly love it, does it matter?
