Over the weekend I had dinner with a friend and thy are practicing Muslims, likely their entire life has been dedicated to the practice.
Men and women that align their lives with Muslim tradition and ways are some of the most dedicated people
I've ever known and the same can be said about my friend.
From their adherence to Ramadan to the way of living of a Muslim, the devotion is impressive and inspiring. My friend told me some things that are not going the way they should - for a Muslim. Vices that have taken hold of them. Distractions that have swayed them. And other vulnerable truths that I started to question.
I ask my friend, "so what do you do now?" The response was, "pray and start new."
We all mess up. We all drop the ball or have an ugly vice we entertain for far too long. But we can start over. We can do and be better, regardless the reason or motivation. We owe that to ourselves and those around us. Don’t be hard on yourself. Just know that you are human and all we are doing here is trying to figure it out and do the best we can.
