How Much Longer Are You Willing To Wait
Some of us can turn on or off our desires and motivation whenever we want. For the rest of us, we must take a hard stance for ourselves. Donald Miller, author of a few best selling books, brings in the idea that our brains are designed to survive and thrive.
Survival: this is when your brain tells you not to do something because it requires too much energy or for the brain to expand too much. The brain is mostly lazy. For example: have you ever been to a boring graduation ceremony and you get sleepy? This is the brain shutting things down to save energy, survival.
Thrive: To grow. But this happens after you do something hard, long enough so that it becomes part of who you are. Your identity.
Here is the hard line I had to take for myself and perhaps you need to also. I asked myself, “how long am I going to be ok with not putting in the work?”
Your turn.
