Let us not waste any more time. Who do you wish to become? This is it. This year is coming to its end. 2025 is on the horizon. New dreams. Possibility. Hope, Drive. Passion.
'This is my year,' you claim. When you get the promotion. when you finally get back in shape. When you'll start seeing a therapist. When you finally make the money you want or expect. This year, the year you'll read 24 books and write 2. This year when you finally start the business or make that other big decision.
But what is required from us in regard to these resolutions for a new year don’t stand the test of time. For one, I think we place too much stock on resolutions as a whole. Also, we are too focused on the finished version of our desire that we don't focus enough today, on how to get closer to our ideal tomorrow. It is easy to dream of the end state, not what you must do for the next 365 days. A writer likes the idea of publishing. However, publishing is the byproduct of having written. Without an editable manuscript, there is nothing to publish.
James Clear, author of Atomic Habits has great advice and a great read to start today, as 2025 is coming. "It doesn't matter if it's two minutes, or if it's 20 minutes, or an hour, but I'm going to try to find a way to show up today as that person," James Clear has said and written. This based on each of us, asking ourselves about the identity we want for a new year and for our lives. Then, the habits needed, the behaviors that support that identity and the routines that help anchor them all in our lives.
"Then," Clear continues, "every action you take, even if it’s a small one, becomes a vote for the person you wish to become.”
