For many of us it's over. The shopping, the tracking of orders. The stress of finding a gift, the consumerism. A reminder that it's not about the gifts, it's not about the stuff.
"I've never met a thirteen year-old who said, 'My dad was never around because he was always working, but I have a sweet mountain bike so it was all worth it.'" - Jon Acuff
The holiday season can be about many things and can be spent in many different ways. But it's never about the stuff. It's about being with people you love.
It's about giving your time, about your presence - not presents.
Being able to take a break from the crazy year.
Our work. Running errands. Making tough decisions.
This time of year is about feeling the magic that it carries and being generous. You may be a parent or not, in a relationship or not. It's not about the stuff, it's about YOU. Giving of yourself to others - family and friends.
If you are a parent, than this message is even more important. They want their mom/dad not a mountain bike as some substitute. They just want to play and be loved not showered with presents.
Kids, all they truly want is presence. Its not about the stuff, after all, how many kids end up playing with the box the gift came in, instead of the gift itself?
