What good is having a voice if one doesn't use it. A social media "influencer" that takes advantage of the audience or panders to it for likability. The podcast that has amassed a huge following and now participates in propaganda or helps spread misinformation.
What good am I with a subscriber list and not speak truth: be it mine or truth that can help us through these interesting times. A journalist I read daily said the news is flying in faster than she can cover it.
With all of that we must build a system, a bull shit radar that can help us spot lies, misinformation and help align truth, first in our lives and then to power. This current administration has come to power by spreading lies, misguiding the public with misinformation and giving the news so much to cover, that the real agenda is done with that cover. The lies are a way to manipulate us and to discourage us to participate in elections. To become so tired of politics that we quit. Again, this giving them more power. This has also turned people against each other. Divided families, communities, our country. Its clear - we are either with them or the enemy.
Building a bull shit radar is simple, but requires work. First stay off social media for news. Avoid it. Mark it as "not interested." Then stop watching the news and relying on others around you for it. Next, read. To understand these next 4 years, read about the last 40. As the expression goes, history repeats itself. As a metric in evaluating performance in a stock portfolio, history serves as a guide to future performance. So read books. Just as important if you desire to remain informed, read independent news sources. Like the Associated Press or right here on SUBSTACK, Heather Cox Richardson. As daily she writes to inform us and future generations as to what this all means.
