My wife tested positive for Covid a few days ago. This is her second time with Covid as I am sure it is for many of you reading. As soon as family, friends and colleagues found out she had Covid, everyone wanted to know if I would get tested and our daughter. They would ask with a sense of urgency.
No. My daughter and I will not be tested. What would be the point if we did? Knowing or not knowing makes zero difference to me. The facts are our friends as Dr. John Delony says. My wife has it. We all share a home and common places. It’s safe to assume we all have Covid too. I thankfully feel great. My wife and daughter on the other hand do not, but are slowly getting better.
Do outsiders think we’re bad parents? I asked my wife this question a few nights ago and we got a great laugh out of it. Let’s say we did get tested, all of us. How would that be any different from my daughter and I not getting tested? We still have to remain at home until symptoms leave.
Why put myself through a wait time for a test or put my 3 year old daughter through the discomfort of that test.
Is it necessary?
Be mindful that all that matters is what you and your family decide to do. Not the outside world. They will have their opinions regardless of what you decide. So make the choices you and your family need and keep going. No explanation is required, to anyone.
I can imagine the people around us who would suggest how careless we are for not getting our daughter tested. It’s hilarious and to you I say……(never mind).
Happy Holidays everyone!
