Show Me Your Work, I’ll See The Results
“Most people overestimate what they can do in one year and underestimate what they can do in ten years.” — Bill Gates
A life is short, a year feels long. I think that’s the reason why we make such statements or have these ideas. Bill Gates nails it as he describes how we think. Often we do not apply a long term view to an idea or plan. It’s generally on a short term basis.
Ah, as we get closer to the end of 2022, we start to hear the things people want to do in 2023. How they want to improve their health, handle money better, start investing, start that business, etc.
“By this time next year I want to earn $100,000.”
“By this time next year I want to lose 100 pounds.”
“By this time next year I want to have $1,000,000” — someone actually said this to me. While there is nothing wrong with that plan, you would have to be closer to $1 million, not closer to $0 in order for that to happen.
There is nothing wrong with having a $1 million net worth in the next 10 years. As a matter of fact it can be done, you just have to work for it.
You can have that successful business, marriage, career and dream home. No it all won’t happen by this time next year, but it can happen by this time ten years from now. Are you willing to wait? Are you willing to continue working and showing up?
Think long term. Dr. Stephen R. Covey said “begin with the end in mind.” Than piece it all together. Work backwards. Run everything you want by my “WHAT Framework.” Check it out below…
